A Bridge to a Bridge

23rd January, 2018

LandScope’s structural health survey team recently designed a non-intrusive and non-destructive geophysical survey of a historic masonry bridge to inform structural engineers of any internal voiding or other significant anomalies.

The busy road bridge was unable to be closed so our Mobile GPR system was deployed for the top-side survey. An eight channel 1.0GHz GPR antenna array was interfaced to our mobile mapping system allowing data acquisition at full highway speed.

The corresponding under-side survey comprised 900MHz radar antenna deployed from our multi-purpose survey boat.

All interpreted GPR data is presented within a 3D bridge model derived from laser scanning.
